The Horizon
Empty crackling fills the deep void of space as the ship known as “The Horizon” floats in its zero-gravity graveyard.
Animation has always been a popular medium. Older animations were created using individual cels meaning each image was drawn for animation. There are 24 frames/cels per second of animation meaning one minute would be 1,440 drawings. We wanted to copy this style by creating a digital animation with the same steps.
My partner and I decided to split the work. I was in charge of the animation, storyboards and animatics. He allocated his time towards creating the backgrounds, building SFX and EFX libraries and coloring the animations. The animation was done in Procreate Dreams and the backgrounds in Procreate.
